Candle is a small, independent project based in Saudi Arabia. Questions go to candle.birthday.help@gmail.com.

What we keep

• What you type in the form, including the birthday person’s name and date of birth, so the link can work. It’s deleted when you delete the page, or automatically after 400 days.
• A scrambled fingerprint of your device’s address, for one hour, to prevent abuse.

We don’t ask for an account, email, or phone number. There are no ads or tracking tools on Candle, and we don’t sell your information.

Who can see a page

Anyone with the link. It’s random and hard to guess, and we ask search engines not to index it. Please don’t put sensitive information on a page.

The microphone

Blowing out the candles uses the microphone only if the visitor allows it. The sound is measured inside their browser, and it’s never recorded or sent to us.

On your device

Your browser remembers the pages you’ve made on this device, so you can reopen them. This stays in your browser, and clearing your site data removes it.

Other companies involved

• Cloudflare hosts the site and stores the pages.
• Google Fonts supplies the fonts, so your browser requests them from Google, which can see your device’s address.

Your choices

You can edit or delete your page with your manage link. If you’ve lost it, or you’re named on a page and want it removed, email us with the link. You can also ask us what we hold about you.
